Family Workshops Build Computer Confidence
Family workshops, aimed at helping parents and their youngsters to get the best out of their home computers, have "logged on" in Perth. The three hour SHOW ME HOW workshops, for those who can't tell their RAM from their ROM, aim to provide a fast-track, fun way to build computer confidence. The jargon free sessions, which involve parents, grandparents, and youngsters aged between 8 and 14 yrs, include shortcuts and tips to get to know the home computer; create web-pages and computer graphics, surf the internet, use e-mail, and shop-on-line.
The idea for the workshops was developed by SPOT-light communications as a way of boosting the effectiveness of company investment in web-based business and helping parents and their youngsters use the full potential of home computers.
Rosie Butler explained: "Companies are being urged to secure e-commerce strategies to ensure their business survives, yet many of their potential customers face an uphill struggle to use their home computer. At the same time, many parents who pay hundreds of pounds for computer equipment are struggling to help their kids use a computer for both learning and leisure."
